Reviews

Joseph Zaccardi is the author of six books of poetry including, most recently, Songbirds of the Nine Rivers from Sixteen Rivers Press. His poems have appeared in Cincinnati Review, Poetry East, Atlanta Review, Rattle, Salamander, and elsewhere. Zaccardi served as the Poet Laureate of Marin County, California, from 2013 to 2015. He does not consider himself a poet, in the ordinary sense of the word; he is a poet telling the story of life, a process that appears inexhaustible. He says each day is a tree of verbal apples one may climb; he is usually up there, unless he is after the even more delectable fruits of silence.

Here is an interview hosted by the Marin County Free Library: Marin Poets Live! An Interview with Joseph Zaccardi by Neshama Franklin.
Also this presentation of the Marin Poetry Center: Marin Poetry Center presents Poet Laureates Joeseph Zaccardi and Prartho Sereno.
And finally here is an audio recording of the KWMR radio interview.

Joseph Zaccardi passed peacefully on January 15, 2025. He is survived by his long time partner and spouse Dave, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
